βΌ
Work in pairs on each side of the pool β one judge from each team. You observe strokes, turns, and finishes to ensure swimmers comply with the rules for that stroke. Judges only rule on infractions on their side of the pool. Training is required for this position.
βΌ
Work in pairs on each side of the pool with one member from each team. Record the finish order for each lane after every event, then send copies of both Finish Judges' rulings to the score table along with the finished lane timer sheet.
βΌ
Collect timer sheets from each lane after every event, pick up the finish judge sheet, then deliver everything to the scoring table. You'll be on your feet and moving quickly between the pool deck and scoring area β a great role if you like to stay active.
βΌ
Print and distribute meet paperwork at the start. Enter swimmer times into the scoring software, verify results against the finish order, and officially score the event. Print ribbon labels after each stroke group. Typically 2β3 volunteers at the scoring table for home meets, 1 for away meets.
βΌ
Place labels on ribbons, then sort and file them into each swimmer's family folder. Typically 3 volunteers for this job. This job keeps you sitting down and out of the sun β a great pick if you prefer a comfortable station. A fun detail-oriented role that directly celebrates every swimmer.
βΌ
Stand by to provide an official backup time for any lane timer who has a stopwatch malfunction. You time every heat and step in immediately when a timer raises their hand for assistance β keeping the meet running without gaps in timing data.
βΌ
Assigned one lane and given a stopwatch. Record the swimmer's time for each heat β two timers per lane, one from each team. Record both times on the lane timer sheet, then hand it to the runner after every event. One of the most essential roles at every meet.
βΌ
Work the bake sale area at each home meet. The Bistro handles hot food β your table sells chips, sweets, drinks, and other items to maximize profit for the team. Volunteers handle money and manage the table. Typically 2β3 volunteers per shift. A fun, social role that directly funds team activities.
βΌ
Capture swimmers in action throughout the meet. Every year at the team banquet, these photos are set to music and shown on the big screen for the whole team. Your images become part of the season's story β a meaningful, creative role for anyone who loves photography.
βΌ
Announce each heat of every event at home meets, including the names of all individual swimmers. Work closely with the starter and scoring table to keep the meet running smoothly. If you love being on the mic and keeping a crowd engaged, this is your calling.
