As a member of the Lancaster County Summer Swim League, Bent Creek Swim Team abides by the league's code of conduct which states “LSSL requires all sports officials to enforce the sportsmanship rules for coaches, contestants and spectators. Actions meant to demean opposing swimmers, teams, spectators and officials are not in the highest ideals of summer swimming and will not be tolerated. Let each contest reflect mutual respect.”
True to the spirit of the league’s code of conduct, we hold firmly that the Bent Creek summer swim team should foster a culture in which swimmers of all levels and abilities come together to have fun, learn valuable life skills, and compete in a positive and supportive environment.
We define SPORTSMANSHIP as showing respect for:
- Teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and spectators by using kind and positive words
- Teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and spectators by cheering for ALL swimmers
- Teammates by keeping your hands to yourself
- Teammates and coaches by not touching the belongings of others
- Coaches by accepting line up choices
- Coaches by discussing swim team related issues directly with the coach
- Coaches, swimmers, and their families by refraining from coaching other families’ swimmers
- Swimmers and their families by discussing swimmers using only kind and positive words
